Holding space for everything

Narrative Project FB cover _ no text (69).png

November 5.

Guests: Jennifer DeCoste & Micaela Comeau. Hosts: Duncan Ebata & Fahima Gibrel

We explored the theme of “holding space” for loved ones, neighbours, community, ourselves. Pianist John Ebata opened with music that set the tone for diving in to rich conversations. Acadian singer-songwriter Micaela Comeau (“Micci”) performed her song The Gardener and told a story of holding space for a friend in need, through an evening of art, nature and food. Jennifer DeCoste shared how it is possible to hold space for in-depth exploration online, in this case through a virtual flow game.

About the guests & hosts

What struck us about these stories?

  • “Being deliberate about setting aside the time to be focused on the moment and each other in a deep way.”

  • “Part of the magic of music is the space between the notes.”

  • “Creating spaces, like the Narrative Project, to explore questions, stories and connection.”

  • “As a disabled person, I feel blessed meeting so many people who are not my caregivers.”

  • “Just making space (like this) to hold space (together).”
