Share knowledge, deepen conversations. Practice well-being, engagement & resilience.

Who it’s for

Community leaders, connectors and hosts who are…

  • wanting to broaden and deepen their understanding of the issues, how they are related, and how to navigate barriers like denial, conflict, disinformation and polarization

  • grappling with climate-related challenges and looking for a place to have real conversations with peers

  • inspired to host meetings and gatherings that include joy and creativity as well as practical tools and information

  • asking questions about how to meet people where they are without overwhelming them with information and stress

  • ready to dive deeper into an issue they care about or try something new in their community, with the support of the group and project mentors

What we’ll do

Follow a three-week cycle, beginning March 10, taking a pause in July and August, resuming September 15, and ending December 8.

  • Week one. Whole group meeting online, Tuesday, 12-1:00 pm. Each meeting will include new content, reflection, and a group activity.

  • Week two. Homework. You will explore the module topic at your own pace, using provided videos and other resources, and reflecting on the relevance to our own community or field of interest. 1-2 hours.

  • Week three. Peer reflection. You will meet online with two others, using that time to reflect on the content, projects, or current questions. 1 hour.

Attend three one-day and one two-hour skill-building workshops over the nine months.

Engage with projects. You will plan and present a project. This could involve researching an issue you care about, hosting a conversation in your workplace or neighbourhood, or convening a gathering in your community. The project could take place over the summer months or at any other time during the leadership journey. The scope and time involved is flexible, depending on your situation.

Adjust as we go. The facilitators will be responsive to the needs and interests of the group.

Logistics

Fee: There is no fee for participating. Instead, we ask that you pay it forward by applying what you’re learning in your group, community or organization.

Cohort: 25-30 people. Preference will be given to those who are committed to the full journey and who bring a passion to contribute and learn.

Certificate: Those who complete the journey will receive a Certificate of Completion and Climate Leadership Badge, sponsored by a partnership between How We Thrive, HalifACT, and the Ecology Action Centre.
