Communities building resilience

A self-paced online course to learn about climate concerns and solutions. (Postcards) (10).png

This month…

A transformational retreat for those working in climate-related fields.

It began with a vision. We imagined a retreat for those of us working in the field of climate resilience, justice, education, adaptation, mitigation and community-led action in Mi’kma’ki.

We noticed a need and a longing to pause—to strengthen relationships within and across our communities, to deepen our collective understanding of what is being called for, and to nourish and realign ourselves so we can rise to the work that lies before us.

We are honoured that Catherine Martin will share Mi’kmaw teachings and lead us in transforming our relationship with the land, as the context for our climate work. Joanna Bull and Rebekah Hart will lead us through the Spiral process developed by Joanna Macy, which transforms climate anxiety and overwhelm into resilience and fortitude, and which sets the stage for empowered action.

Over three days we will have time to connect with ourselves, the land and each other. We will leave refreshed, with new insights and connections for our work back home.

We invite you to join us.

Schedule: We arrive for check-in and dinner on Thursday, September 18, and leave after lunch on Sunday, September 21.

Fees (including meals and onsite accommodations):

  • Government, NGO, business: $970/870 (single/double room)

  • Community, Individual: $720/620 (single/double room)

  • Inquire about offsite and scholarship options.

The Climate Connections self-paced course

Fill out a short questionnaire and tell us what you plan to do and we’ll transfer the money. After the event, send us a photo and a brief description, for sharing on social media and inspiring others. With thanks to the Rural Communities Foundation of NS and HalifACT.
