Communities taking action

A self-paced online course to learn about climate concerns and solutions. (Postcards) (10).png

Coming this fall…

A transformational gathering for those working in the fields of climate resilience, justice, adaptation, mitigation and community-led action.

Catherine Martin will ground our retreat in Mi’kmaw teachings about how to transform our relationship with the land, as the context for our climate work.

Joanna Bull will lead us through the Spiral process developed by Joanna Macy. The Spiral transforms climate apathy, anxiety and overwhelm into resilience and action. We will clarify our own next steps and identify opportunities for synergy and solidarity in the work ahead.

Schedule: We arrive for check-in and dinner on Thursday, September 18, and leave after lunch on Sunday, September 21.

Fees (including meals and onsite accommodations):

  • Government, NGO, business: $970/870 (single/double room)

  • Community, Individual: $720/620 (single/double room)

  • Inquire about offsite and scholarship options.

The Climate Connections self-paced course

In 2023 How We Thrive has developed a six-module course for individuals and communities in Nova Scotia/Mi’kma’ki. You can work through the modules yourself and then then use the content to engage others in your community. Scroll through these slides to learn more.

Fill out a short questionnaire and tell us what you plan to do and we’ll transfer the money. After the event, send us a photo and a brief description, for sharing on social media and inspiring others. With thanks to the Rural Communities Foundation of NS and HalifACT.
